In a departure from two recaps from last week today Bees Head Coach announces a new signing to go with the confirmation of Stuart Mogg.
The brand new man to the Bees is George Hoang who joins the squad after his debut NIHL season in Invicta. The seventeen year old defence man started out in Surrey with the Guildford junior system before his senior breakthrough came in Kent with the Dynamos.
At the age of sixteen George wore the “A” for the Guildford under 18s and proved himself capable of playing an offensive option as well as his core defensive skills by recording 19+6 in just 19 games.
George’s impressive junior pedigree has seen him represent Great Britain and Under 16 level in Dumfries and Bulgaria.
He was signed on a two way contract with Guildford U18 and Invicta Dynamos last season. He scored 2+1 last season for the Dynamos.
Doug Sheppard spoke of his last signing; “George is a talented young dman and I look forward to working with him, he has a great opportunity to come to Bracknell and develop his game. I think George has a good chance to play for GB under 20’s next year.”
George added his thoughts; “I’m really excited to be joining the bees for the 2018-2019 season and to progress as a young player under Doug Sheppard.”
The second announcement for today is the confirmation of EPL All Star defenceman Stuart Mogg.
Stuart is a product of the Basingstoke Junior Programme before moving to Slough where he played in the NIHL teams there also making his EPL debut with a single Slough Jets appearance in 2010/11. A second season at Slough was followed by a spell with Canadian Team Toronto Attack and a return to Basingstoke where he made 12 EPL appearances for the Bison at the same time as putting up 5+2 in 5 starts for the Buffalo.
It was while playing in Basingstoke under Doug Sheppard that Stuart swapped from his forward position to playing defence and found his niche within the EPL. Since making the swap Stuart has gone on to be one of the Best young British D-men in the league and still benefits from his scoring touches learned as a junior forward player.
In 2015/16 he was part of the league winning personal while also receiving personal recognition with an EPL All Star selection in his defensive position.
While studying Sports Science Stuart was also a key member of the University Hockey scene turning out for Southampton Spitfires and Great Britain at the Universaide. In 2016/17 he made 5 appearances for GB Universities wearing the “C”.
His medal collection increased last season as he won the treble with the Basingstoke Bison.
Doug Sheppard said; “Moggy is as solid as they come on defensive, he reads the play extremely well.”
George stands at 5’9 and weighs 163 pounds and is a left shooter. Stuart stands at 6’0, weighs in at 176lbs and shoots right handed. These two exciting defencemen will be available for own and loan and player sponsorship.
On his latest defensive pairing Doug Sheppard concluded; “George will learn a lot from Moggy and our other senior players.”
