Following a thrilling overtime win at the Hive last weekend against the Swindon Wildcats which saw the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees qualify for the Cup Semi-Finals the Bees now prepare for a weekend on the road, starting on Saturday against the fourth placed Basingstoke Bison and then on Sunday against the third placed Peterborough Phantoms.
The long awaited first clash between the Bees and Bison saw the Bees run out two goal winners in a shut-out performance at the Hive. Last weekend, like the Bees, celebrated qualifying for the cup semi-finals.
The Bison staged a comeback from 1-5 at 40 minutes to win 6-5 in overtime last Saturday against the Raiders and then completed a 2-4 win over Streatham the following day.
Last weekend saw the return to the team of Roman Malinik with his penalty being downgraded to a game penalty and he showed the difference he makes with an impressive 4 assists in the 5-4 win on Sunday night. Vanya Antonov missed last Sunday’s game but will be available again this weekend.
On Sunday the Bees are in Cambridgeshire to take on the Phantoms. The Phantoms are in a strong place in the league and until recently were unbeaten. They sit a table place behind the Bees.
A couple of weekend’s ago Bees played in Peterborough, losing out in a tense finish having lead at 40 minutes. This time Roman Malinik will be available allowing the Bees to use both their non EIHA trained players.
Looking ahead to his away weekend Bees Head Coach Doug Sheppard explained; “It doesn’t get any tougher than a two road game weekend, starting in Basingstoke Saturday and off to Peterborough Sunday. Both very hard places to go and pick up points, we will have to be at our best to have a good weekend.”
Bees play in a 6.30pm Face-off on Saturday against Basingstoke and a 5.30pm face-off on Sunday against Peterborough.
