Weekend review – hard to take

The Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees returned to home ice following a weekend on the road to take on the Invicta Dynamos.

Danny Milton took the start in net for the Bees while Conor Morris guarded the Dynamos pipes. Aidan Doughty would find a way through Morris at 5.52 for the game’s opening goal and Stuart Mogg doubled up the lead, converting a powerplay, at 18.39 for a 2-0 opening period.

The middle period passed without scoring but Anthony Leone scored for Invicta at 42.36 before Roman Malinik netted the Bees third at 44.50. The game was safe at 52.31 when Ben Paynter scored for 4-1 and Malinik’s second at 53.57 wrapped up the game a 5-1.

Following a home win the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees headed to Romford to take on the Raiders.

Danny Milton again started in net and Ben Paynter’s second goal of the weekend opened the scoring at 3.49. Shaun Thompson scored at 13.00 for 0-2 and with no further scoring the first period ended in favour of the visitors.

Raiders staged a comeback in the second period with JJ PItchley scoring on the powerplay at 33.46 and Aaron Connolly also scoring a powerplay goal at 38.46 to end the middle period 2-2.

Blahoslav Novak Put Raiders ahead for the first time 6.44 into the third period and not long after a coming together started by an errant high stick from Oliver Baldock saw double fighting minors for Sean Barry and Josh Martin and a 5+game roughing call against Ryan Watt. As time ticked away Bees took their timeout and pulled their goaltender for the extra skater but with 50 seconds remaining in the Ashley Jackson scored the Raiders fourth.
