Following the disappointment of a weather interrupted weekend the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees are back in league action this weekend with Swindon as the road opponents on Saturday before a home game against Invicta on Sunday at the Hive.
Despite being edged out the cup last weekend Aaron Nell has built the Wildcats into a complete team with the bases covered. Max Birbraer (51 pts) sits in out of top spot in the scoring charts with Chris Jones (44) just behind him and our own Vanya Antonov completes the top 3 point scorers with 42 points. Coach Aaron Nell cannot be forgotten about either while talking of scoring power.
On Sunday attention turns to the Invicta Dynamos as they visit the Hive. It’s fair to say it’s been a tough season in Kent for the Dynamos both on and off the ice with the current situation a shadow of the former Kent hockey hotbed in the days of the Medway Bears.
The Dynamos have had a tough start to the season with many of their bigger name signings departing the club through the season to date including original starting netminder Adam Long. Callum Best on 16 points leads the Dynamos scoring charts so far this term.
Looking ahead to the weekend Doug Sheppard, Bees Head Coach said; “It’s important we bounce back from a disappointing weekend. Last weekend we didn’t have any discipline to our game, we made it very difficult on ourselves given Peterborough 7 power plays and only 1 in our favour. We know if we play our game we’re ready for any challenge.”
Bees play at Swindon on Saturday at 6.15 before Sunday’s home fixture at 6.00 at the Hive against Invicta.
