A local hero! Bees official nominated for an award

The Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees are delighted to announce our very own Steve Merry has been nominated for an award at the prestigious Pride Of Bracknell Forest Awards 2019.

The awards are now in their fourteenth year and celebrate achievements through the community in areas including charity, sport and education identifying exceptional individuals and groups which make significant contributions to the quality of life in the region.

Steve Merry has been a regular figure at the Bees and wider hockey scene in Bracknell for as long as we can remember! He efficiently goes about making sure everything happens as it should, organising the team of off ice officials for the Bees games as well as being active in other areas of the wider ice hockey community in Bracknell.

Steve is an off-ice official, junior parent, and player and has given many years of service to ice hockey in Bracknell which saw him recognised nationally and chosen to head up the team of off ice officials at the prestigious Coventry finals weekend both for the EPL and into the near era with the NIHL.

Steve has been nominated for the Sport & Leisure – Adult Award.

Speaking on his nomination Steve Merry said; “I could not do the work I do at Ice Hockey without the fantastic support I get from the all of the Off Ice Officials that I work with at local and national level. As well as all the work I’ve done at Finals Weekend.

Bees Director Stuart Robinson added; “Congratulations to Steve on his nomination. Like all sports clubs in the area the Bees need the support from a loyal army of volunteers and it’s great that Steve has been recognised in this week.
