Knaggs is back!

Head Coach of the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees Doug Sheppard can wait no longer to announce the latest player to sign on the dotted line for the 19/20 season.

  • Second team league All-Star
  • 3+20 in league play last season
  • Former Bracknell Junior

The 21 year old returns, calling the Hive home, for the Bees first season in the new National Ice Hockey League following an impressive debut season for the Bees in the Britton conference last year.

The Hemel Hempstead born player started in the Milton Keynes hockey programme before joining Bracknell Ice Hockey Club playing for the Stingers and Drones and Under 16 and Under 18 level.

In 2014/15 while playing for the Milton Keynes Thunder Edward debuted for the Lightning in the EPL and was recognised with a call up for international duty with GB Under 18s. In 2015/16 he recorded his first international goals while on GB Under 18 duty but this time also played four Under 20 games while playing his domestic hockey with the MK Lightning.

After one final season in Milton Keynes he headed to Peterborough to play for the Phantoms on a two way deal with the now Elite League Lightning. He found the back of the net 3 times for the Phantoms together with 7 helpers and also added 2 assists in the top tier with the Lightning. He recorded 1+3 from 5 GB Under 20 games as well.

This brought him to the attention of Doug Sheppard and he became a Bee. He had an outstanding season playing with great maturity and earning himself a place on the second team All-Star selection.

On returning Knaggs to the line-up Doug commented; “When Ed came to Bracknell last season I knew we were getting a good D-man. He quickly developed into an elite defender. With his strong skating ability and offensive instincts I’m certain Knaggs will continue to grow as a player. I’m really looking forward to seeing how much he progresses next season.

The player himself added his thoughts; “I’m delighted to be back at the Hive next season. With the team Doug’s putting together I’m sure we will be in the hunt for trophies next season and I can’t wait to get started.

Edward stands at 5’11 and weighs 168lbs. He is a left shooter.
