Head Coach of the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees Doug Sheppard today announces that Vanya Antonov will be returning to the Bees for the 19/20 campaign on a two way agreement with Streatham IHC from the Britton Conference.
Vanya first debuted for the Bees in 2013/14 at the age of 16 returning 4+1 while earning a call up to both GB Under 18s and Under 20s. In 2015/16 he put up 65 points from 51 league games in his last season at the Hive before heading to Basingstoke for two seasons. In two seasons playing from Hampshire he scored at nearly 2 points per game.
Last season Doug Sheppard returned Vanya to the Hive and he didn’t disappoint with 48 league points, finishing second in the club’s scoring.
This season, in order to concentrate on a crucial phase of his education, Vanya will be signing with Streatham in the Britton conference and joining the Bees on a two way deal which will see him still eligible to ice in the black, white and gold.
Head Coach of the Bees Doug Sheppard spoke on the latest announcement; “It’s obviously disappointing that Vanya won’t be with us full-time next season, but I fully support his desire to focus on his future away from hockey – as I have done and will do with any player. I’m glad he’s decided to stay with us on a two-way contract though, he will certainly give the team a big boost when he’s in the line-up and I’m sure our fans will give him a huge reception when he pulls on the Bees jersey once again.”
Left handed Vanya Antonov stands at 5’9 and weighs 163lbs.
