Speaking on completion of his latest signing Head Coach of the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees, Doug Sheppard, is pleased to announce that GB experienced Ryan Webb will be wearing the black, white and gold of the Bees in 2019/20.
Ryan was born in Guildford and learned his hockey at the Spectrum progressing through the Surrey junior system before moving to Bracknell in 2009/10 as an Under 16. He played his first season with the Under 16s and Under 18s before combining Under 18 duties with Hornets duties for a further two seasons.
In his last year of Under 18s Ryan received international recognition with a call up to the GB Under 18s bagging a goal in 5 appearances.
In 2012/13, now registered with the Hornets, Ryan scored 12+18 in 32 games and also made two appearances with the Bees. The following season 1 appearance with the Bees went with 6+12 in 14 Hornets games before a transfer across Berkshire to complete the season in the EPIHL with the Slough Jets.
With the Slough Jets departing professional hockey Ryan signed for the Wightlink Raiders where he played two complete seasons under Jeremy Cornish accumulating 62 points in 68 games. He returned to the Island for 2016/17 but after netting 4 times in 4 games the Wightlink Raiders lost their home ice and had to withdraw from the league.
Ryan returned to the mainland, following Jeremy Cornish to Streatham, beginning an 84 regular season game stint spanning three years. He posted 33+33 from those games together with 3+1 in 6 play-off games.
Looking ahead to the fresh challenges of the new National League Doug Sheppard explained his latest signing; “Ryan is exactly the type of player we were looking for, someone who is hungry to play hockey at the highest level he can. Ryan will cause a lot of problems for the opposition with his great speed. He’s going to fit in well on and off the ice at the Hive.”
Ryan Webb stands 5’8” and weighs 143lbs. He shoots right handed.
