Newest team member signs up

The Bracknell Bees are delighted to announce the newest member of our team – Buzz!

Buzz will play a pivotal role in the engagement of fans on a match night, around the rink and notably in our School Zone. With over 70 schools signed up to the programme, it is certain to be a ‘buzzing’ area of activity and Buzz will help generate an atmosphere to add to the fantastic noise already produced at The Hive. As well as match nights, Buzz will also be a welcome addition to events out in the local community to help promote our club.

We would like to put on record our sincerest thanks to Matt Fettel who made this possible. Funding and helping create Buzz, Matt has given the club a new mascot who will undoubtedly be a vital representative for our club for years to come.

Matt Fettel said “It has been an absolute honour to fund this mascot purchase for the club. This club is valued by so many people. I have witnessed first-hand the love that directors, players, volunteers and supporters have for our club, past and present.

I am hoping “Buzz” will provide the club with at least five seasons of assisting in the local community, supporter engagement and giving the club a friendly/approachable face.

I would like to thank some fantastic colleagues who have worked on this project with me – My good friend Jamie Sale (, Andy Turner and finally Frenzy Creative for bringing the vision to life.

When designing buzz, we wanted to try to keep as true to our logo as possible but with audience in mind. The thinking is Buzz will be the friendly / approachable face in the community including supporting our School Zone. Our players will then bring the hunger and passion on the ice, which represents the ‘angry bee’ element.

On behalf of myself and all of the Fettel family, we would like to wish all connected with the club all the very best for the season/s ahead. This is such a special club.

Good luck to Doug and all the lads. #COYBs

Dave Williams of the Bracknell Bees School and Community Programme on the addition of Buzz “Following on from a successful first season of the Bracknell Bees Schools Programme, the challenge is always to make progress, to build on the successes and to learn from experiences. We were so pleased with the number of new supporters that filled the Schools Zone on match nights and our aim is continue to make the Schools Zone accessible to as many young supporters as possible.

When Matt spoke to us about a new Bees Mascot we were thrilled and honoured to be given the opportunity that Buzz gives us to make match nights more interactive. It means Buzz can be available to interact with the supporters at The Hive not only on School Zone match nights but every home game, in a fun and entertaining way. As the Community Programme evolves, Buzz gives the club a visual Mascot that can be available to attend Fairs, Fetes and Community Events and raise the profile of The Bees in The Community’’

You will get your first chance to meet Buzz, along with members of the Bracknell Bees, at the grand reopening of the newly refurbished Bracknell Skate Shop at the rink TODAY (20th July). Buzz and the players will be there from 12:30pm helping run the shop and events, being personal shoppers and taking time to speak and have photos with you, the Bee Army!
