During the last campaign, the Bracknell Bees launched the ‘Hive of Fame’, to honour those who made an outstanding commitment to the club, with John Nike OBE becoming the first inductee in the house that he built.
We will soon be inviting the great supporters of this club to have your say in who else should be enshrined, with nominations opening soon.
But in the meantime, we are honoured to announce that Matt Cote will become the first player to be inducted at our home league opener against Peterborough on the 21st September.
Matt already has his number 8 jersey retired by the club, the highest honour any player can receive, but it is only fitting that the popular defenceman leads the way for players in the ‘Hive of Fame’ with his skill, determination and dedication to the club all the hallmarks that underline his nomination.
His connections to the club run through to the present day with nephew Harvey Stead a firm-fixture on the Bees blueline, and we are delighted to be welcoming Matt for this special event.
Bees Director Stuart Robinson commented; “Matt is without doubt the first name on many Bees fans lips when asked which player is regarded as a club legend. He was a fantastic, consistent professional on the ice and a genuinely affable and approachable guy off of it. It’s always a pleasure to see him at Bees games and I know that many people will be pleased to see Matt recognised in this way.”
Tickets will soon be on sale for the game on the 21st September, whilst fans are advised to keep across the Bees website and social media output for when the nomination period for the next player to enter the ‘Hive of Fame’ opens.
