It took just 9 seconds for Josh Martin to find the back of the net and give the home team the lead but seconds later the puck struck Raiders starting goaltender Bradley Windebank and his night ended early with Michael Gray taking over. A powerplay goal from Josh Smith at 3.01 doubled the advantage but Blahoslav Novak pulled one back at 16.52 to end the first period 2-1.
A well taken goal from Louis Colvin made it 3-1 at 24.00 but two quick Raiders goals followed to level the game. Aaron Connolly scored at 27.38 and less than two minutes later Novak’s second had the score tied at 3-3 by 29.10. A second from Josh Smith, at 35.01, restored the Bees lead heading into the second interval.
A goal from Vanya Antonov, making his first appearance of the season, at 52.35 would be the last for the Bees opening up a two goal cushion but a powerplay goal from Jake Sylvester with 1.26 to go finished the scoring at 5-4 and gave the Bees their first win on home ice of the season.
