This weekend the TSI World Bracknell Bees travel to Milton Keynes on Saturday to take on the Lightning before return to Bracknell for Sunday’s home clash with the Bison.
The Lightning go into the weekend in 10th place in the league table with their six points coming from two wins and two overtime losses. Their top scorer is Tomas Kana with 7+7 from 13 games followed by Cale Tanaka with 4+9 from 11 games.
With many changes forced on the Lightning roster due to the difference from Elite League and NIHL rosters there has been a combination of new faces joining and familiar faces returning after spells away from the club. Long gone is the legacy of the Nick Poole core that made the Lightning so successful following their inception.
Leigh Jamieson returns to the Lightning after a couple of seasons in Streatham and with him comes Ben Russell. Last season’s Basingstoke Captain Russell Cowley returns closer to home as he links up with the Lightning this season while Telford’s 18/19 squad provides forward Brodie Jesson and defenceman Jordan Stokes for this year’s Lightning Roster. Elite League experienced forward Carl Tanaka comes in from the Solways Sharks, with Czech Tomas Kana returning to the UK 4 years after his 14 game spell with Swindon. Finn Ari Närhi makes his UK debut this season and has 2 goals from his first three outings.
On Sunday the Bison are back at the Hive. They go into the weekend in fourth place in the table but iced last weekend with both Michal Klejna and Richard Bordowski absent from the line-up. Despite this they recorded wins over Milton Keynes and Peterborough.
Ashley Tait leads the scoring with 5+8 followed by Adam Harding (4+13) and Adam Jones (4+11).
With a visit to Basingstoke coming up in a fortnight Bees will be looking to turn in a good performance on Sunday night and swing momentum in their favour.
Head Coach Doug Sheppard looked to the weekend; “Nothing is going our way at the moment. We need to stay positive, stick together and the results will come.”
Bees play a 7pm road game on Saturday night at Milton Keynes ahead of a 5.30pm face-off on Sunday night against Basingstoke at the Hive. This weekend travelling Bison supporters are asked to book for Block 2. Tickets for the home game can be bought via telephone to 01344 789000.
